During the Obama administration, corporate reformers got everything on their wish list and billions of scarce dollars funded their pet hypotheses. But, now, teachers, parents, students, and many policy makers are in "open rebellion."
Why should beliefs by some trump the democratic rights of others? It should be up to the voters, rather than the courts, to decide whether our policies based on social science or the billionaires' hunches should be the law of the land.
"Reformers" still seek to build educational monocultures. They want to destroy the educational "status quo" in order to save our diverse school systems. So, one rushed "silver bullet" after another is funded.
