Gun violence destroys lives, tears families apart, and traumatizes entire communities. Too many elected officials have ignored this ongoing crisis, as well as the unacceptable fact that black Americans are more likely to die from homicide than Americans of all other races.
Here are a couple of facts that every American should be ashamed of: Black Americans are four times more likely to be murdered than the national average. What's more, four out of five black homicide victims are killed with guns.
This week, our nation's self-proclaimed "oldest civil rights organization" is setting up camp in St. Louis, Missouri, for its annual meeting and gun industry exposition, a celebration of Freedom!, Freedom!, and yes, even more Freedom!
