My problem with the word isn't what it means, but how it's said and how it's presented to me visually (i.e. before and after pictures, diet ads, etc.). What I want to change is the negative connotation that is attached to the word.

What about fans who wear sizes larger than a 3x who are seemingly shut out of the entire realm of tee shirt fandom? Should they just buy a CD and an embossed baseball cap?

I'm super aware of how mean I can be to myself a lot of the time and I'm constantly trying to battle the bully in my head that reared its head at a young age. I recognize that sometimes the things that can ruin my day by making me feel fat are so beyond ridiculous that I have to laugh at them.

It's time to shift to a new space of women cheering on other women as well. No comparisons. If you focus on the fact that your friend has a better butt than you or is better than you in a certain way, what a waste

(Not) Finding Love Through Textual Chemistry

Technology is a danger of the contemporary dating landscape. I don't have it all figured out, but I have developed the "Donovan Rule:" No frequent calling or texting before the first meeting - and no overnight bags on Date 1.

My AA: Approval Anonymous

In my entire 40 years, I've never once been high or intoxicated. Still, an AA program would serve me well. Approval Anonymous. A support group that could help eliminate my need to be accepted by other people and direct me toward the sense of self that I am just beginning to claim after decades of living inauthentically.

I admit that it would be nice to pin our body image hang-ups to one dartboard. It would be super keen if we could lay blame at the feet of the music industry, our seventh grade gym teacher or the guy (and let's face it, it was totally a dude) who invented the tube top.

Standards Of Beauty Sound Even More Ridiculous When They're Said Aloud

In my first marriage, which lasted 18 years, I had a hard time being seen naked. Especially in my child-bearing years, when my only purpose was to serve my children, to be their sustenance. My sexuality went right out the window.

I'm not looking to look like Giselle. I'm looking to feel comfortable in my skin. I don't like to feel weighed down by unhealthy pounds. I am not looking to meet some arbitrary standards that are designed to sell us sh*t.

Big Ideas: Greg Bergman Obsesses Over His Penis Size In The Documentary Big Like Me

Tony Bartolone | Posted 10.15.2014 | Arts

How do you measure a man? You measure his penis (while erect -- from the side, not the top). Big Like Me is the story of a man and his average-sized penis. Dabbling in parody, psychology and philosophy, this dissertation is alternately fascinating and disgusting.

B, thank you for letting down your third wall, for sharing your inspiration, your fantasies, your truth with us. Even though I don't know you, I feel we have a little more in common than I realized before, and you are a stunning emblem of what it means to be a woman -- flaws and all.

Experts Say, 'Don't Tell Your Daughter She's Pretty!' I Say, Why Not?

I often tell my daughter that she's beautiful because, to me, she is. But she's also a passionate, though slightly bloodthirsty, storyteller (there've been a slew of beheadings in her tales of late), a fierce soccer goalie, a voracious reader and a really good friend.

Blob and Weave

Mike Diamond

Being in Hollywood is like weighing yourself on Jupiter. No matter what I see in the mirror, in my head I am the flabbiest gay man to ever exist. Also, my timing sucks: I was a rail-thin teenager when muscle boys were it, and now that "lean is queen," I have love handles that are totally unlovable.

I enjoy a good tarot card or personality test reading every now and again. I am not offended by the notion that I could learn more about myself through a new lens. But years ago, when my life coach suggested my body was also a "reading," I was taken aback.

My Husband Looks Buff and It's Really Ticking Me Off

As hubby's BMI plummets, the feeling that I'm failing grows and grows, as does my desire for a big, decadent piece of thick, gooey, molten chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream on top and then maybe some creamy fettuccini alfredo for dessert. Man, I'm getting hungry.
