Henry Waxman's decision to retire from Congress after 40 years service there marks the end of one of the great congressional careers, and the last of the "Watergate class" in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Although it is easy for politicians or candidates to deliver talking points on the DREAM Act, it is more difficult to see real leadership on the issue. Rep. Howard Berman has provided not only comforting rhetoric, but also legislative leadership on the DREAM Act and immigration in general.
The lights are being removed, the podiums are gone, and the cleanup crew is sweeping up the tiny, tiny pieces of Paul Ryan that were left all over the stage last night. Heh. Well, maybe not really, but it certainly seems that way, doesn't it?
