At the rate we're going, the 2016 election is likely to be the most expensive in history -- and the moneyed interests will be responsible for most of it. Our democracy is broken, and we must fix it. Easy to say, but how do we do it?
As gobs and gobs of money in the form of campaign contributions keep congesting our elections, "We the People of the United States" are forced out of this crucial political process. If we want to reclaim our seats at the decision-making table we're going to have to stamp out Big Money.
I believe in government, which is established through the means of politics. The government we get and the political means by which it is derived is imperfect, and to expect perfection from either is overly idealistic or dangerously ignorant.
When the New York Leadership for Accountable Government committee meets, I will provide it with all my energy and experience to help bring to the state of New York what New York City has already adopted.
