It's been more than one year since my mother was diagnosed with late stage cervical cancer. The diagnosis turned our lives upside down and revealed the best and worst in me as I exchanged roles with her and became her caregiver.
But nowhere is community more important than in your health. I know this seems counterintuitive, but left to your own devices, your chance of sustaining any particular diet or exercise program is extremely small.
Over the next week or two, that phrase, 'extreme self-care' sort of haunted me -- but in a good way. I got curious what extreme self-care would look like in my own life. And, I was curious about if and how our community could benefit.
It's worth considering how we can optimize our self-care efforts. Take some time to reflect on how much time feels like enough time and what mix of activities feels like it best meets the range of your needs.
