Last week it was Carol Bartz. This week it is Leo Apothakar at Hewlett-Packard. Governing bodies just do not know how to fire CEOs and they don't seem to be learning anything. Each situation gets worse.
If the Yahoo board had done its job months ago, then all this controversy about the etiquette of a firing phone call -- which is worthy of commentary and analyzing, and hopefully will never happen again -- would be completely moot.
