I chose to get arrested outside of a car wash in Brooklyn last week in support of the workers who have been on strike there since November. This is the first time I have ever been arrested -- even though I have supported many different causes in many different ways.
It has been amazing to witness the fast food-worker strikes that have swept the country in the past few months. One of the most shocking things that the workers have complained about is that their employers have been cheating them out of their full pay. These aren't isolated incidents.
Los Angelenos may be the most auto-obsessed people on the planet, but most of the time we turn a blind eye toward the people who actually clean our cars -- and their routinely terrible working conditions.
