I voted yes on the NATO/G-8 Ordinance, proposed by Mayor Emanuel, today. While my original position was to vote against this ordinance, my opinion changed over the last two days, because of the changes made to the original proposal.
I believe that what these people are doing is the very definition of courageous. The people camping and marching should be admired for doing something that many people are too lazy or fearful to ever even consider.
This movement has potential to unite communities in Chicago that have been estranged since the early 70s, but its student leaders will have to reach out to citizens who have never set foot on a college campus or who have never heard of the Federal Reserve.
