The U.S. emits 6 billion tons of CO2 waste yearly. Only 1/5 of it can be absorbed. The rest is handed off to Indonesian rainforests, the oceans off the Maldives, or the winds over Africa. We are dumping our garbage on the rest of the world's doorstep.
We applaud Mr. Gates' support for reducing CO2 emissions and the awareness that he brings to the issue, but the basic premise of his recent piece on HuffPost obscures the reality of what's necessary to achieve realistic change.
