An ugly pattern has emerged: Phone, cable, broadband, ISP, and wireless companies, their industry associations, not to mention compromised consumer as well as astroturf groups have been on the FCC Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) over the last decade+.
I would argue that it is time for more lawsuits, but right now they are going in the wrong direction. The FCC should be taking the companies to court and starting the process of separating the companies from their control over critical infrastructure -- that we paid extra for, over and over.
Thomas Wheeler is the heir apparent to the departing FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski. From 1992 through 2004, Tom Wheeler was president and CEO of the Cellular Telecom and Internet Association. If Wheeler is nominated he would have to take on his previous clients.
