Anyone who remembers the infamous impetus for the Act -- the pollution-choked Cuyahoga River catching fire in Cleveland in 1969 -- knows how far we've come and all the good this law has done.
We have a choice. America can either improve our water systems or we can weaken them.
That we sacrifice the availability and the integrity of clean water every single day for generating energy is an enormous and largely unknown national tragedy.
