I watch Dance Moms every week. In some ways it's a guilty pleasure, in others it's an opportunity for introspection on my own work as a dance instructor.
By the time the class is over, I had redefined the word spastic, bumped into the woman next to me twice, peed my pants just a little, and realized that while I thought I could dance, I actually could not.
In class, I lead with my body. In real life, I move at an oblique angle towards things I want and I remain distressed, guarded and surprised when anything romantic comes my way.
