This graduation is bittersweet for me, as Emily's father I have watched many of you grow up to become the fine young men and women you now are. I see you and wonder what she would be like and the adventures she would be on.
On this Mother's Day, two years after being a mother to one less child on this earth, I think of all the other moms who share this same circumstance. We are bonded by this tragedy and share a grief that will never dissipate.
I came to the trial hoping -- praying -- for justice. I have learned quite a bit about our legal system and unfortunately have seen its failings firsthand. I was naive to expect that the trial would bring swift and fair justice.
