As 2015 came to an end, The Atlantic published an article entitled, "2015: The Best Year in History for the Average Human Being." Indeed for many of us things are better than ever -- so good, in fact, that more and more of us have an opportunity to seek the highest levels of personal fulfillment -- even at work.
Consumer goods company, Unilever, states its organizational purpose is to, "Make sustainable living commonplace. We work to create a better future every day, with brands and services that help people feel good, look good, and get more out of life." Nowhere is the term "maximizing shareholder value" a part of its purpose.
What employees may not have realized is that job security comes from within oneself. If you are passionate about your work and bring value to the market, you can find ways to make an income from it. On top of that, our world is changing rapidly with technology, eliminating the necessity for having to spend forty hours tied to a desk.
