I used to wonder why my sons asked for the same story night after night. I came to the conclusion that kids simply enjoy the comfort of repetition. Think of it as an emotional security blanket.

The days of "Do as I say and not as I do" are over. Today's kids, who are always-on, are tech-savvy and have 24/7 Internet access to information which they can use to dispute you.

Have you noticed that as we get older we require larger amounts of stimulation to engage us? That what once excited us when we were young now doesn't hold the same potency?

I'd look up at the stars and watch the planes fly by, just dots of light, and wonder what the hell I had done, having these two kids and managing to get divorced by the time I turned 32.
