The simple fact is that we can do something about gun violence and the evidence is overwhelming. We as Americans need to turn the conversation inward and seriously weigh the consequences of our second amendment rights against the greater good.
Strong gun laws are not equivalent to taking guns away from citizens. To the contrary, they consist of transparent rules and procedures designed to manage the possession, storage and carrying of firearms in order to limit access to legitimate users alone.
On one side are those who explain these ghastly incidents as the outcome of a failed mental health system. On the other are pundits who say these preventable deaths are the consequence of America's patent inability to regulate guns. They are both right.
