Tonight, Obama will address the nation to mark the end of America's official combat role in Iraq. It is unlikely that Iraq's bitter political rivals will put aside their differences quickly enough to enable the president to announce a deliverable outcome.

Daoud Kuttab | Posted 05.25.2011
Direct talks between Palestinian and Israeli leaders are the most obvious way to achieve peace in the Middle East conflict. But history has shown time and again that a high-profile peace process alone is no recipe for success.
