The Mississippi Secretary of State has announced that enough signatures have been collected to put voter ID on the ballot in 2011. Voters will get the chance to narrow the franchise once again.
We do not know whether or not race played a part in the disproportionate sentences imposed upon the Scott sisters, and that such suspicion may be unwarranted and unfair... but so were the sentences.
Freedom couldn't come soon enough for the sisters who have endured 16 long years in prison -- longer than some convicted murderers or child rapists.
