On the cusp of 2015, Goddess worship is moving into a new generation of leaders who are striving to evolve beyond individual teachers, isolated communities and occasional communal rituals and bring the Goddess into the mainstream. Call it Goddess 2.0.
She did not feel she should hate the Druze for their tradition or put them in "The Other Box." She just wanted to understand better where and why the tradition existed -- and how it might be put to an end. Her pull to the topic was undeniably related to her own life experience.
Sex invoked in myth and ritual is symbolic of the primary life force. Sex as energy. Sex as creation. Sex as abundance. Sex as unification. Sex as divine spirit. Sex as celebration. Sex as sympathetic magic.
People sometimes object to the word "worship." They hear the hierarchy of a subservient relationship. I use the word "worship" in a completely different way: "to pay extravagant respect and admiration."
For better or worse, the word goddess automatically connotes gender, as does the word priestess, and it seems that whenever femaleness is not defined/confined by marriage and motherhood, people start asking "what about the orgies?"
