We arrived and it was clear -- by the bold signage on the street-facing windows -- that we'd be surrounded by Picassos, Basquiats and Warhols for the evening, not to mention a lively mix of queer downtown nightclub celebrities, veteran rock stars and young artists dreaming of gracing the surrounding walls one day.
The new book includes more than 200 images, some legendary, some unknown. The suggestive narratives are as inspiring now as they were then and continue to impress the industry. Almost every person who works in fashion is familiar with the iconic images of Lisa Taylor and Christie Brinkley being bit by dobermans, or the singer Grace Jones posing semi-naked among panthers.
Together as electro-hop duo Double Duchess, David "davO" Richardson and Krylon Superstar have been performing live and making San Francisco partygoers sweat their butts off for years -- five at the very least. But this week marks the culmination of every drop of sweat they, themselves, have spilt on stage.
