Before we personally experience a mass shooting within our own community it is easy to distance ourselves and think that mass shootings happen in other places, and to other people. But Friday night drove me to understand that at any moment it can happen.
Very few people have serious objections to registration of activities in many other contexts; we register our cars, dogs, bicycles, burglar alarms, births, deaths, marriages and our kids into schools every day. But guns are treated differently. Why?
If Democrats want to know what women want this election season, I encourage their campaign gurus to start talking about an issue that has strong consistent support from women of all ages, races, and locations: gun control.
