An episode of television can stand on its own, as a complete work. It can tell a story that reverberates in our hearts and minds for years. The truly lasting stories are the ones that make us care about the people at the center of the saga.
"Mad Men" and "Game of Thrones" are Sunday night dramas that share many similarities. And while I watch them both, I personally find the experience of sitting down for an hour of "Mad Men" to be consistently more enjoyable.
Dragons will always be my first answer as to why I think "Game of Thrones" is the best show on TV right now. But dragons aside, the American dream is much closer to the fantasy George R.R. Martin has created than the fashionable nostalgia of "Mad Men."
