We live in an enviable time for a TV series about corporate life. Some of the richest plot lines and most absorbing characters come from the smoke-filled rooms of modern business. Material is unlimited. So why not build a house of truths?

"House of Lies" does nothing but confirm our worst fears about the darkest aspects of business culture; its overall grimness overpowers its ham-fisted attempts at complexity.

Lies chronicles the oft unscrupulous, "take-what-you-can" methods of management consulting within mammoth corporations. It's a dark, edgy, comedy but Marty, the character Cheadle portrays, is absolutely nothing like the actor. At all.
