DETROIT — A prosecutor says a woman intentionally set fire to her boyfriend's mobile home in suburban Detroit, killing two of her young children while she fled with a third.
Twenty-nine-year-old Sharon Hinojosa was charged Tuesday with arson, second-degree murder and felony murder. The maximum penalty is life in prison.
Asked about a motive, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy would say only that Hinojosa "knowingly left the children who were not fathered by her boyfriend."
Worthy said Hinojosa set the fire early Friday in Huron Township, about 20 miles southwest of Detroit, killing 3-year-old Alayna Hinojosa 4-year-old Anthony Hinojosa. Hinojosa escaped with a 1-year-old son.
Her attorney declined to comment.
