The big debate shouldn't be if this is the best Star Trek film ever. The more interesting conversation is about whether Star Trek Beyond is a better sci-fi space adventure film than 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
It's a feast for the mind and the eyes, with stunning special effects, dazzling use of 3D (seriously, go see it in 3D!), and a revelatory performance from a talented young newcomer to hold it all together.

My personal experience working in theater, film and television is that evolution and integration are happening, are ongoing. I experienced this on a greater level this past year in film and television than in theater.
