After three years, though, I've finally got a semi-sense of how IFA Berlin is somewhat, kind of structured, hurdles and all, and how to deal with it. This isn't a staid, boring trade show. It's like an amoeba, changing shape at any given moment.
There are 1,500 exhibitors here, from 70 countries. What I found intriguing is that -- at least this year -- the innovation was far more in the home appliance end rather than with what usually gets the attention, computer-related products.
More to the point, if you have friends over to watch television, you likely won't have enough glasses for everyone. That's just if you invite a few friends. But what if you plan to have a Super Bowl party - who is going to have 30-40 pairs of glasses sitting around?
The folks at Samsung must be feeling pretty good right now. Not only did they win in the latest patent challenge from Apple in a Japanese court, but they're making a big splash at the giant IFA technology trade show that's going on now in Berlin.
