Today, April 26, marks World Intellectual Property Day. Although this commemoration might go unnoticed by many, it's worthwhile to imagine for a moment what life would be like without innovation or the inventions innovators produce.
As the president has made clear, "our single greatest asset is the innovation and ingenuity and creativity of the American people. It is essential to our prosperity and it will only become more so in this century."
While there are a number of lawyers and others in the White House and elsewhere with a more balanced view of copyright, having so many recording industry lawyers concentrated in the Justice Department is particularly troubling.
