On Monday evening, February 23, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin paid a condolence visit to the parents of Adele Biton, 4, the toddler who was critically injured by a Palestinian rock attack on her family's car two years ago, and passed away last week from respiratory complications from a lung infection.
The Netanyahu-led government's announcement of its decision to annex nearly 1,000 acres of Palestinian land in the West Bank between the Etzion settlement block and Jerusalem amounts to nothing less than a reckless and offensive act that only further undermines Israel's moral international standing and has dire future consequences.
There are so many stakeholders, not only in the Middle East but also in Europe and beyond, that would like to see an end to this madness in Gaza. The vital thing confronting us today is for the U.S. to put pressure on Israel to lift the siege of Gaza and seek a viable and realistic political solution.
