Now that the AP investigation of the NYPD's widespread spying on the city's Muslims has apparently run its course, what's been the result? Much of the city's establishment have derided the AP series as "smearing" the NYPD.
Because Kelly commands the police department of 9/11-scarred NYC, the country's highest government and law enforcement officials seem afraid to level with the public about Kelly and his terrorism policies.
And as long as the U.S. remains "at war" either literally or rhetorically, either directly or by proxy, we will continue to present our infrastructure as legitimate targets to our adversaries. If we want to be safe, we have to end the wars!
How much money might taxpayers have been saved with a referral to a mental health agency for Jose Pimentel? I can think of half a dozen other things the NYPD could be doing in Hamilton Heights on any given night than smoking dope with a self-circumciser.
If that is enough authority for the FBI to collect massive amounts of data on religious, ethnic and national-origin characteristics of countless individuals throughout the country, why was that not enough to join and support the NYPD in its investigation of Pimentel?
