I loved, admired, and applauded her for the same reasons that everyone else there did. But, in my case, there was one other reason as well: Julia Child was my godmother. She had excelled as spectacularly in that role as she had in her others.
Age is a funny thing. My contemporaries, mostly baby boomers, are wonderful, but none of them have ever told me to call them when I got home to make sure I was safe. None of them burst into song, much less with two-part harmony.
The time passed quickly with Stephanie telling me new Julia stories and me reminding her of my favorite moments with Julia. Julia loved having fun and if you were a friend you might have known she played the famous SNL/Dan Aykroyd piece at her own dinner parties.
