Health care is a human right and fundamental for a moral society. The ACA and its many provisions are important steps on our journey to health justice, a path that requires all of us (healthcare providers, elected officials, public health experts, and "ordinary" people) to do our part for our fellow Americans.
The reason I am against the Religious Freedom Restoration Act is not because I am a lefty liberal, but because I am a proud American Christian. This legislation, though guised in the cloak of religious liberty, is the first string to be pulled out of our basic civil rights. This state is beginning the slippery slope of legalized discrimination.
On March 12 Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Mary Jo White publicly returned fire for the first time on the charge from outsiders and two of her fellow commissioners that her agency is soft on Wall Street. Cut through her rhetoric, however, and what she seems to be implying is: "The SEC trusts Wall Street."
