Night Moves definitely works as a tense, lo-fi psychological thriller. But the environmental dimension is what gives Night Moves its interesting moral dimension, as well as informing the unique world where the film takes place.
In theaters this month is a pair of amusing documentaries, an Oscar nominee, and the latest drama from a world-class filmmaker. Any time there are five pictures this good playing on theater screens, I take heart.
Exceptionally well-acted, quiet and observant, Meek's Cutoff is pure arthouse fare, which is meant as a warning for those who might want a little action or some answers, and as praise for a talented director coming into her own.
