Our world may feel false. But we can accept it. And in the midst, we can create spaces and relationships where we can be real. And even when the world is at at its maddest, we can remember, remember who we truly are.
Was the tragedy in Japan unleashed by the earthquake and tsunami, as well as the damage to the nuclear power plants, an act of God? Of course, it depends on what kind of God you believe in.
As we enter yet another Jewish New Year, it may be that remembering where we came from is more important and ultimately more helpful on our journey through life than knowing where we are headed.
