While I've never been totally convinced that college athletes should belong to a labor union, I've always believed that big-time college athletes should receive a "stipend." Forcing these players to live on a pittance to maintain their so-called "amateur standing" is both hypocritical and absurd.
People are searching for a way to transform an economic system that benefits the few over the many. They are searching for fairness, opportunity, justice and real change. I believe that search can and should lead to the labor movement.
