The children at the border are only a symptom of a crisis of extreme violence in Central America and a crisis inside the Beltway caused by a dysfunctional Congress that misses opportunity after opportunity to fix our broken immigration laws. This is a life and death issue.
We gather here today to mourn the passing of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Although weakened and battered in the past, it seems that it has finally succumbed and will be heard of no more.
Serving in the Peace Corps in the Central African Republic is part of what inspired me to work in the reproductive health field. My service exposed me to the realities of gender violence, and left me even more committed to working for women's rights and empowerment.
