Here is my advice for today's students. Following these basic suggestions will help you get better grades, have more opportunities, get your degree more quickly, and get the most out of your college years.
I know you just graduated from a challenging high school with a strong college prep program. You are certainly well-prepared. That said, you can't expect to coast on your high school work ethic and succeed in college.
When I first attempted to put together a list of things I would need I didn't know where to begin. Time and time again I experienced that "I know I'm forgetting something but I don't know what it is" phenomenon.
In my head, I know that parenthood is just a scaffolding, a temporary support during our children's construction of the actual building of their adult lives. But inwardly, I am beginning the uneasy process of squaring my heart with their growing up and leaving.
