We never have only one talk about anything! Kids learn through repetition and they need reminders every day to help them make good choices. So, why would I treat something as important a sex any differently?
I spend almost all of my time and energy loving the shit out of my kids. Finding these little magic moments in ordinary days. Kissing dirty faces and being easy-going. And then I spend just a little bit of time wanting terribly to get away from them.
When you're a parent you have to make lots of decisions. I haven't check the stats, but I'm guessing it's something like a million decisions every day and it can be exhausting! So it definitely helps to have short cuts to make things easier on yourself.
Just like any other mum (working or not working), I get stressed, feel overwhelmed, things sometimes do slip through the cracks and at times I barely meet deadlines (school projects, papers, registration, paperwork, etc.).
For all of you mamas insisting your immaculate house is messy, and all of you normal mamas therefore afraid to have anyone come into your house ever, because that level of clean is just not achievable due to kids/time/dogs/life/constant art projects, let's set some guidelines.
You sense it in the bathroom while you're taking a shower, slithering about just outside the curtain. It's next to your bed while you sleep, and you don't need to open your eyes to know that it's only inches from your face, silently staring at you.
I imagine that it must be hard to watch a friend get swallowed whole by a completely foreign set of experiences. Since I'm the one getting swallowed, I can't know what that's like -- but I can offer a few (entirely unsolicited) dos and don'ts to those who have not, as yet, procreated.
