Pope Benedict has the opportunity to start a cleansing process in his Church. Will he be courageous and act with authority, or simply attempt to sweep this latest scandal under the rug?

Thomas Merton's story, as portrayed in The Seven Storey Mountain, was an intentionally watered-down version of what really occurred during his pre-Gethsemani years- the result of a concerted effort to disguise a tormented sinner as some sort of a plastic saint rehabilitated through monastic practices.

Every author risks unfavorable review when he or she writes a book. Hemingway received poor reviews and contemporary writers have also not been immune to such undesirable reception.
