The aluminumadores in my neighborhood at least try to maintain some kind of dignity in spite of their humiliating circumstances. Contrast that with what I witnessed at the upscale party, where a wealthy man groveled and whined just to get his friends inside.
Roger Lowenstein's piece "Wall Street: Not Guilty" is well worth reading, if only as a case study in the moral and logical blindness that's reached epidemic proportions among otherwise reasonable people in influential Washington and Wall Street circles.
Goldman Sachs is inflating the price of Facebook using the US tax payer as insurance. It borrows money to invest (or create new bubbles) knowing full well that if anything goes wrong, uncle Sam will be there to clean up the mess.
