If you're Maureen Dowd you can write "Clinton" and "drama" week after week and then with not a twitch of shame or embarrassment, write, "Whenever the Clintons are mentioned, the talk soon turns to drama."
It appeals to my vanity to believe, as Maureen Dowd and Sarah Palin do, that we are living in the End of Days; but the facts suggest that the American Century may very well give way to the American Millennium.
Senator Clinton gave a performance that even Maureen described as "electrifying." Until I read the Dowd column this morning, I thought the hardest of the hardcore Hillary haters would be won over. But no.
This stadium thing looks like a really bad idea. But I did not write of this in public, because the blowback to criticizing Obama is so distracting and also because, well, they would probably wait for a man to say it.
There are worse things than being serious. Being robbed of a country that that we can be proud of is one. We are voting for Obama to restore hope and national pride, without which laughter makes no sense.
