while President Barack Obama has mentioned that assault weapons belong in the hands of US soldiers and not on the streets of America, he has left it to Congress to move forward on an assault weapons ban. That's too bad because Congress isn't remotely close to doing anything.
In the two months since the Occupy movement began 25 journalists have been arrested covering events across the country. More than half of these arrests have occurred in New York City, including 13 journalist arrests in the last week.
Mayor Bloomberg and the NYPD acted with cowardice by trying to use the cloak of night, while people slept, as a shield from the highly questionable tactics they engaged in during their raid on Zuccotti Park.
Has Mike Bloomberg, having gotten one more term as mayor than the law actually allowed, lost interest in New York City now that it has no more electoral triumphs to offer? Is he running for president in 2012?
