At first glance, Proposal 3 looks like a great idea. I support renewable energy. But I oppose Proposal 3 because it's bad for Michigan. Proposal 3 would force Michigan to gamble $12 billion on today's renewable energy technology.
Michiganders can vote for a future that will create jobs today and for the next generation, rein in high energy costs and reduce dangerous pollution that harms our air and water as well as the health of our children.
This November, a ballot initiative in Michigan will determine whether that state's boom in renewable energy and clean-tech jobs gains even more momentum. It's a popular and sensible measure, but it's by no means a slam-dunk.
