Even though your old clothes may still fit, revise your clothes closet, hair color/style, buy a new trench/raincoat. This is about reflecting who you are inside and allowing that to show to the world and other people around you. Let the world see how amazing you are on the outside and your amazing character will do the rest.
As part of a documentary on dealing with adversity I interviewed several women on going through a divorce and raising children on their own. Naturally a divorce brought with it plenty of anxiety, doubts and worries and all of the women had to make some very difficult choices but ultimately prevailed and became stronger and happier in the process.
If in your 40s, it seems OK to me to date guys in their 30s, 40s or 50s. But 50 is a different story. Guys in their 30s are definitely out, guys in their 40s might work, but they might want women in their 30s or 40s, guys in their 50s want girls in their 30s or 40s, and guys in their 60s just seem too old.
The last time we moved, three years ago, I had the Herculean task of consolidating beautiful things from many years of living in a large home into a proper amount that would fit into an apartment... across the country.
