We have not created a safe environment. As parents and citizens, that's our job. And we have failed. When you fail, you are supposed to change and adapt. You are supposed to act, not cower with helplessness. You are supposed to do something beyond hoping and crossing your fingers or knocking on wood.
For months, Moms have called on Kroger to make a safer and more family-friendly shopping environment by prohibiting the open carry of firearms in its stores, just as brands including Target, Starbucks, and Panera have done. Instead of meeting with us and reconsidering an irresponsible policy, Kroger's leadership has refused to listen.
There are only 33 days between now and Election Day, and Moms Demand Action volunteers across the country are doubling down on our pledge to bring one million gun sense voters to the polls. I've personally committed to crisscrossing the country between now and Election Day to meet the incredible moms and women who are working to change our culture of gun violence.
