Since my kids will likely want to surprise me (beyond remembering the whipped cream cheese and lox), I do want to pre-empt a few things that probably shouldn't be on anyone's Mother's Day gift list anyway.
If you're trying to think of a Mother's Day present for mom, how about a novel featuring a memorable mother? The book could star a saintly mom, a hellish mom, or a more realistic mom between those two extremes.
She fed us, she changed our diapers, she took care of us when we were sick. She deserves a "thank you"! Mother's Day is the one special day of the year when we officially thank Mom for doing her best year after year.
