Nakba day is a significant day for the Palestinian people. Almost every family has a story to tell about that day in 1948 when many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes to seek refuge in less troubled lands.
An apology will not destroy Israel. Yet, it would be a first step towards making amends for the crimes of the past, acknowledging the wrongs of the present, and creating the space needed to work towards a just and lasting peace.
Recent events contribute to the perpetuation of two often repeated lies: that the Arab world wants peace with the Jewish State and that Israel returning to the 1967 borders will magically resolve the conflict.
