After spending the last year and a half soaring high above the stage floor of the New Amsterdam Theatre aboard a magic carpet, Courtney Reed (who plays Princess Jasmine in the Broadway production of Disney's Aladdin) was ready for some more down-to-earth activities.
That's why every night -- as James is onstage performing Friend Like Me -- he makes a point of making eye contact with every other cast member who's out there making this eight-minute-long production number stop the show.
There's a line from As You Like It carved into the ceiling of the New Amsterdam Room. It reads, "I had rather have a fool to make me merry than experience to make me sad.'' I imagine that a good many people are going to be made merry once they get the chance to experience this new musical comedy.
