Sometimes a problem with fast-growing startup ecosystems is that they can be fragmented, competitive, and hidden to newcomers. Still, New York City is the second largest startup scene in the world and it is growing fast.
Very few companies make it North of 30th, however, those that do are some pretty big names, including Seamless, MongoDB, and LinkedIn, whose NYC office continues to expand at The Empire State Building.
The stimulus was not as effective as hoped, in part because state and local officials were expected to move faster than they were able. However, state and local officials and local entrepreneurs are now responding to the need for new jobs in interesting ways.
