Unlike many rappers in hip-hop who are obvious industry pinheads just trying to cash into the bank, Kanye West knows more. Yet, that is perhaps the very problem: he knows more and yet does nothing to actually fix the problem.
The n-word is overused, misused and socially abused on sites like Facebook and Twitter all the time. And while we act as if Rihanna has done something extraordinarily taboo, I challenge you to check the Instagram accounts and tweets of many other hip-hop artists and friends.
None of the freestyles over Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Niggas in Paris" have come close to matching the perspective or realness displayed by Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) in "Niggas in Poorest." With the world in a global recession, his perspective maybe exactly what we need.
